Orthodontics
The department of
orthodontics has both undergraduates and post graduates sections. Each
postgraduate is provided with a personal Alkon modular system for keeping their
instruments, case files and their models. They are trained in self ligating
bracket systems, temporary anchorage devices (micro implants), lingual orthodontic appliances, Invasalign along with
conventional orthodontics.
They are involved in
interdisciplinary treatment modalities like Nasoalveolar molding, surgical
orthodontics, adjunctive adult orthodontics.
They are also provided
training in digital photography.
Postgraduates are also
involved in research and have been appreciated for their presentations, and
publications nationwide. The department is provided with software which
simulates the treatment outcome of the patient.
The department is the
one of first in the country to have a formal lingual orthodontic training as a
part of the postgraduate curriculum. Each Post-Graduate has to compulsorily
treat a minimum of 2 lingual orthodontic cases. The department uses both the
latest STB and 7th Generation Ormco lingual brackets.
