We have taken every care to ensure that all the provisions of the Dental Council of India are met as per the DCI regulations CIDS has a constructed area of over 100,000 Sq.Ft.
Students benefit from a canteen serving both vegetarian & nonvegetarian food, a well stocked library with CD ROMS and Internet facility. A separate audiovisual room has also been provided with audio visual aids like the state of the art L.C.D projectors.
We provide both undergraduate and postgraduate training programmes.
Undergraduate Training Programme - Bachelor of Dental Surgery
A candidate for the undergraduate training programme must have secured a minimum aggregate of 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the qualifying examination. The undergraduate training leading to the BDS degree takes five years to complete with 240 teaching days in each academic year.
Postgraduate Training Programme - Master of Dental Surgery
Dentistry does not confine itself to treating carious teeth alone. The teeth act as a gateway for various other systemic manifestations and involvements. Accordingly we teach all the disciplines associated with dentistry , and render post graduation teaching programme in all 9 specialities.

Our dental clinics and laboratories have the latest state-of-the-art equipment. To name a few, the digital OPG and RVG units; Ceramic Laboratories and casting units, the latest audiovisual aids including LCD projectors, a 100-chair modern Dental Hospital Block, Minor Operation Theaters and a fast-developing Department of Implantology which is only the third in the country under the Global Oral Implant Academy. (GOIA).

Health Services
The CIDS is a completely self contained township and has its own inhouse medical emergency room to attend to the emergencies of the staff and students and other residents.
Campus Recreation
There are regular activities involving the students, staff and the families of the staff on the campus. Indoor games like table tennis, chess, badminton and carom are provided in the hostels. Outdoor games available on the campus include Basketball,Tennis and Cricket. A Squash court is in the planning stage.
Counselling
The CIDS has set up a full-fledged counselling service is available for the students. The service enables the students to select the optional subjects of their choice as well as take up other issues that directly or indirectly impinge on the academic performance.
Hostel Accommodation
Comfortable hostels have been provided separately for ladies & gents. Wardens reside in each of the hostels to look into the welfare of the students. The rooms available to students are single rooms or double rooms with attached bathrooms. Hot water is provided through solar panels.
Smoking, drinking, ragging, drug abuse, and other unhealthy practices are strictly prohibited on the campus. Staff are deputed to monitor the situation in side the campus to ensure such unpleasant events do not occur.
The Management has resolved to admit only 40 students per year so that quality education can be imparted. The Principal and Managing Trustee are in regular contact with the parents to keep abreast of their ward's progress.
Virajpet town is located in the south west region of Karnataka state in the scenic district of Coorg. The town is on the Karnataka-Kerala Border on the slopes of Western Ghats. Virajpet town is well connected by Road to Bangalore, Mysore , Hassan and Cannanore (Kannur) in Kerala. You can reach Bangalore by air and board a bus or a taxi from there.
- Bangalore is 4 and half hour drive ie 250 km from Virajpet along the state highway.
- Mysore is a pleasant 2 hr drive from Virajpet town.
- Cannanore (Kannur) is a 2 hr (100 KM) drive from virajpet.
Located on the hills of Malithelere, stands the Coorg Institute of Dental Sciences. Started in the month of September 1999, and from that day onwards there has been a steady growth. The college has matured and developed from a college rendering undergraduate studies to a post graduate institute as to what it is now.
Under the guidance of the managing trustee, Principal, faculty and the students we have formed a committee to work towards beginning of a new alumni association, the “CIDS AA”.
