Academic Facilities

We have taken every care to ensure that all the provisions of the Dental Council of India are met.

As per the DCI regulations CIDS has a constructed area of over 100,000 Sq.Ft. Students benefit from a canteen serving both vegetarian & nonvegetarian food , a well stocked library with CD ROMS and Internet facility. A separate audiovisual room has also been provided with audio visual aids like the state of the art DVD facility , O. H. P and slide projectors. 

The Laboratory Block consists of spacious and well furnished laboratories catering to the Medical subjects like Physiology, Biochemistry, General Pathology, Microbiology and Pharmacology. A separate block houses the department of Anatomy. The Departments are headed by Senior Professors. Students are given individual attention and special care is taken to teach the students hygiene and care of patients during and after treatment. Charts and slides are in keeping with the latest breakthroughs in Medicine/Dentistry and the equipment installed are of International Standards. 

The Clinical Block 

The Dental Specialties Hospital is housed in a spacious 35,000 Sq feet building with 150 Dental chairs. About 100 patients are treated everyday at this specialties Hospital free of cost. The dental clinical exposure to our students is thus excellent.

Endodontics Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Department of Periodontics
Department of Orthodontics
Department of Pedodontics
Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology
Department of Community Dentistry
Dentistry Department of Oral Pathology.

All the Departments are headed by Senior Professors who are assisted by Assistant Professors/Readers. Each department is provided with technicians, nurses and maintenance staff. 

The Institute is affiliated to the 230 bed Government Hospital at Virajpet and the 60 bed Rural India Health Project (RIHP) at Ammathi. The Institute is managed by the Coorg Dental and Medical Sciences Trust, a body of professional doctors. 

A unique feature of the Coorg Institute of Dental Sciences is the personal attention and care taken by the Trustees. Each member of the Managing Committee is involved in areas of construction, maintenance and care of facilities provided, landscaping and gardening, student welfare and maintenance of hygiene in the food provided to the staff and students. They interact directly with the students once a week and ensure that all their needs are met. 

At CIDS special care is taken to ensure that students pass out of its portals not only as excellent dentists but also as ideal citizens of the world.

Other Facilities

To ensure an atmosphere conducive for stress-free learning we provide all facilities to enrich the life on campus. The management-staff and students form a close-knit family on the campus.

We have provided facilities like basketball, volleyball, shuttle/badminton, table tennis and a variety of indoor games, apart from a well equipped gymnasium / aerobic center and an 18 hole golf course.

To keep students and faculty alike well connected with the outside world apart from helping them update themselves with the latest developments we have provided a round-the-clock Internet kiosk that is connected through a fail-proof VSAT facility. There are also facilities like an ice cream parlour, fast food outlet and a shopping zone for enhancing the quality of life of the Coorg Institute of Dental Sciences Family.

It provides the most conducive environ for academics. Nestled amidst the ‘misty mountains’ of the Scenic district of Coorg lies the CIDS, an institute whose campus competes with the best holiday resorts of the world. The campus has beautifully laid out landscaped gardens, aesthetic brick and stone construction that blend with nature and comfortable hostel accommodation for all our students on the campus.

 Our dental clinics and laboratories have the latest state-of-the-art equipment. To name a few, the  OPG and RVG units; Ceramic Laboratories and casting units, the latest audiovisual aids including LCD projectors with PowerPoint projection, a 100-chair modern Dental Hospital Block, Minor Operation Theaters and a fast-developing Department of Implantology which is only the third in the country under the Global Oral Implant Academy. (GOIA).
